Gorran accuse KDP, PUK over referendum timing and fall of Kirkuk on October 16

Marking the first anniversary of the fall of Kirkuk on October 16, the Change Movement (Gorran) accuses KDP and PUK of committing 'historic mistakes' by holding the referendum in inappropriate timing led to losing over %51 of Kurdistan territories.


 In the statement published by Gorran Movement on occasion of October 16, the Change Movement states that October 16 is the chapter of serious episodes after holding referendum by Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in inappropriate timing on September 25, 2017, followed by the military attack and takeover  of Kirkuk by Iraqi forces and Hashd al-Shaabi paramilitary forces after unilateral and secret agreement between Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

Gorran also calls on Iraqi Government to respect the Iraqi constitution regard of Kirkuk and other disputed areas that must be under joint administration and normalize the situations by ending of the military status.


The statement also pointed out that KDP should recognize its mistake over referendum timing that led to losing almost half of Kurdistan region's territory. Also, call on PUK to recognize its mistake over signing a secret deal to hand over Kirkuk to Iraqi forces which were massive perpetration considers as a national betrayal.
