Gorran Movement statement in the anniversary of chemical bombardment of Halabja

Gorran Movement on the occasion of chemical bombardment of Halabja announced: it is the duty of Iraqi and Kurdistan region governments to make further attempts in order to heal the wounds and erase the remnants of that massacre. It is also the duty of Iraqi President to work towards becoming Halabja a real governorate and compensation its residents.

The detail of the Gorran Movement statement:
Today, March 16, 2021, is the anniversary of Halabja bombardment, the city that had been eradicated due to the crime of genocide by fallen Baath Party regime, now has become a symbol of resistance and rebound and the national identity of the sacrificed nation.

Halabja city had been eradicated, but the worries and pains of the victims of that tragic catastrophe will remain alive, so its memory should be exchanged from symbolic to actual steps towards serving people and relatives of victims.

In this anniversary, it is the duty of the Iraqi and Kurdistan region government to take further attempts to heal the pains and remnants of that massacre. It is also the duty of Iraqi President and representatives of all political parties to work seriously to turn Halabja to real governorate and to compensate its residents.

Within the Kurdistan region, the duty of the government is greater. The government must focus carefully on the city and consider that the province of (Halabja) has so far only included a building and a number of employees, its people hoping for the previous phase of their city, which was a district at that time

In the anniversary of that tragic catastrophe, we pay tribute to the fallen heroes and the victims, we call all side to take responsibility for that ignored city.
