The press Room of Gorran Movement commented about the demonstration in Duhok city and said: it is the duty of government and security forces to deal with protestors according to law and good procedures.

It also said: taking arrest of teachers, employees, journalists, and civil society activists in Duhok city, aside from it is a bad mechanism to respond people demand, at the same time it is a bad reaction with a bad situation and it doesn’t serve the current situation.

An announcement from the Press Room of Gorran Movement:
Today, Saturday, May 16, a number of teachers and employees Azadi Park in Duhok city, arranged a protest as a normal right to demand their salary and cancel salary saving system by the government.

This mass protest is simultaneous with coronavirus crisis and its impacts, which has made deep consequences worldwide made negative impact on the people life in Iraq and Kurdistan Region.

In this situation, people are without salary, and their life is very bad. It is the duty of government and security institutions to deal with protestors and anger people according to law.

Arresting of teachers, employees, journalists, and civil society activists in Duhok city, is not just a bad mechanism to respond people demand, but at the same time it is a bad reaction with a bad situation and it doesn’t serve.

We are in Gorran Movement believing in freedom and public freedoms, support all demonstrations and protestors under used laws. We ask the government to release arrested people, aside from this, we call that the reaction of security forces will be fine with people who demand a better life and their salary.
